Body image issues can be a factor in many presenting problems (eating disorders, depression, sexual dysfunction, etc.), but they are often overlooked and may elicit shame in both therapists and clients. Jeanne will present an original concept of the journey from body shame to size acceptance, using Kubler-Ross's five stages of grief to describe different ways clients may present during the process. We will discuss cognitive and psychodynamic methods for helping clients at each stage, and we will explore countertransference and transference problems unique to this issue.
