Consultation can help when:

  • You and your client aren't making much progress or have come to an impasse.
  • You encounter a dilemma about the best legal or ethical course of action.
  • You feel uncertain about how to handle a crisis or protect your client's safety.
  • You have strong or uncomfortable feelings about your interactions with a client.
  • Your client's cultural background isn't very familiar to you.
  • You haven't had much experience with the issues your client needs to discuss.
  • You find it difficult to set boundaries around logistics such as policies and fees.
  • Your clients tend to terminate therapy prematurely.
  • Too few of your prospective callers become clients.
  • You're feeling insecure about your clinical abilities.
  • You need  more clarity about your professional goals.
  • You want ongoing support to help you give your clients the best possible care.

Whether you are looking for immediate help with a particular case, or an ongoing consultation relationship, I invite you to draw on my supportive approach and strong clinical background, to promote your clients' healing process and your own professional development.

My experience as a supervisor / consultant dates back to 1996, and includes a wide variety of populations and levels of care.  Supervisees and consultees have consistently told me that they feel comfortable talking openly with me about difficult issues, and they like my ability to translate clinical theory into practical, applicable, down-to-earth terms.

My particular areas of consultation expertise include

  • interpreting and using countertransference
  • resolving legal and ethical dilemmas
  • talking with clients about money
  • diagnosing, treating, and referring people with severe mental illness and/or chemical dependency

And some of my specialty areas as a therapist are

  • body image
  • LGBT issues
  • codependency
  • sexual identity
  • depression
  • panic attacks and anxiety
  • sexual abuse survivors and their partners
